Micro-Computed Tomography Operator – Quote
This Request for Quote (RFQ) is issued by the National Museum of Natural History Smithsonian Institution (SI), for technical professional, non-personal services in support of the micro-Computed Tomography Imaging Center in accordance with the Statement of Work (SOW).
DESCRIPTION OF REQUIRED SERVICES
The SI has a requirement for an experienced micro Computed Tomography Operator at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington DC. A Not-to-exceed price order will be awarded.
Period of Performance:
The period of performance shall be from 13 April, 2018 to 12 October, 2018 with 2 options to extend. This contract will be paid at an hourly rate based on an estimated 36 hr work week. Please bid accordingly.
- Base Appointment 13 April 2018 through 12 October 2018
- Option Appointment 1 13 October 2018 through 12 April 2019
- Option Appointment 2 13 April 2019 through 12 October 2019
STATEMENT OF WORK
NMNH is searching for an individual who has the requisite skills and experience to operate a micro-computed tomography scanner, including sample preparation x-ray imaging, tomography, volume data processing and analysis at the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) mCT Imaging Center
(mCTIC). The mCTIC is part of a larger advanced imaging core facility with equipment to support scanning electron microscopy, optical microscopy, x-ray micro-computed tomography, and 3D scanning primarily serving the research interests of the NMNH. The mCTIC is a multi-user core facility where individuals are trained to prepare and analyze their samples, ultimately operating the equipment independently. The position will involve collaborative teamwork in planning and executing µCT analysis of a wide variety of materials reflective of the vast collections of the NMNH. It will involve extensive collaboration with the head of NMNH Scientific Imaging, curatorial, postdoctoral, and visiting scientists for experimental design, training, execution of analyses, segmentation,3D rendering of projections and volume analysis. Candidate should have a team spirit and demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills and good command of the English language.
